Pembe initially started with the maize meal brand in 1989 and later went on to produce wheat flour, animal feeds and porridge.
Pembe has been manufacturing animal feeds since 1997. It produces feeds that range from poultry, cattle, horse, rabbit, turkey and breeder feeds.
Pembe has the latest Buhler Technology, commissioned in 2012, a Unit that incorporates the processing of Wheat, Maize, Millet, and Sorghum.
The word Pembe is a Swahili word that means Elephant Tusks.
Pembe plants are spread across seven countries in East and Central Africa (Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Zambia, Mozambique and Burundi).
